About The Event:
The theme of COMQUIZ 2001 was "Today's e-Winners, Tomorrow's
e-Leaders". The primary aim was to complement Government efforts
to boost computer literacy among students and promote greater awareness
of computers and IT. Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim at
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Subang Jaya, Selangor launched the event in
June 2001. The closing date for submission of entries was 25th May 2001.
The preliminary rounds began nationwide on 16th June 2001. A total of
627 teams comprising 1,881 students from various secondary schools sat
for a test on their knowledge of software, hardware skills, technology
trends, the internet and also basic computing skills and knowledge. The
final round was held on 1st September, 2001 at INTI College Malaysia,
Bandar Baru Nilai. The finalists had to not only answer questions on computers,
hardware, etc questions but also they competed in Charades, Snakes and
Ladders, and a pyramid game.
